Gwinnett Sports Commission Executive Director Stan Hall is making a step up to a new position within the Gwinnett Convention and Visitors Bureau.

The CVB announced Hall has been appointed its new chief operating officer, which means he will help oversee the Gas South District, Explore Gwinnett, the Gwinnett Sports Commission, the PGA TOUR Champions Mitsubishi Electric Classic and Coolray Field.

“I’m excited and honored to have the opportunity to be a part of this segment of our organizational growth,” Hall said in a statement. “We have known that the Gas South District is a gem within our region for a very long time, and I look forward to the ongoing development on our campus as we prepare to broaden our reach.

“Our current expansion is the largest public-private partnership in Gwinnett’s history, and it is going to position the Gas South District as one of Georgia’s premier live-work-play destinations.”

Hall had run the sports commission and the Mitsubishi Electric Classic for the last eight years, and he was the director of the Gwinnett County Judicial Circuit’s Victim Witness Program before that. He spent 33 years in public service, including work as a chief criminal investigator and senior director for the Gwinnett District Attorney’s Office.

He is an FBI National Academy graduate and is currently the Sugarloaf Community Improvement District’s treasurer and the Mosaic Georgia Board of Directors’ chairman. He also sits on the boards for the Gwinnett County Public Schools foundation, the Gwinnett Medical Center Foundation, the Gwinnett County Police Foundation and Eastside Medical Center.

He sits on the Gwinnett County Public Schools Student Leadership Advisory Board.

“(Hall’s) appointment will bolster the leadership of our organization as we continue to evolve into one of the leading entertainment destinations in the state,” Gwinnett Convention and Visitors Bureau Chief Executive Officer Preston Williams said. “The vital role Stan has served in our organization and within the county makes him the ideal person to lead our current endeavors into a bright and successful future.”
