Gas South District to host JapanFest

All things Japanese will be on display this weekend in Duluth as the Gas South District hosts the annual JapanFest on Saturday and Sunday. The theme of this year’s event is “Cooler Japan” and the festival will feature kabuki theater for the first time.
The event runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on both days, and tickets are $10. The festival will highlight the tradition, fashion, music and technology of Japan along with anime. But one of the main features will be kabuki, which organizers say is a centuries-old form of traditional Japanese theater that is a rich blend of music, dance, spectacular staging and costuming. There will also be plenty of martial arts demonstrations as well as an Echizen pottery demonstration
Organizers say that many of the 550 Japanese companies based in Georgia will have products on display at the Made in Georgia exhibit. There will also be interactive exhibits showcasing Japanese technology.
The festival will feature a variety of musical acts and is partnering with MomoCon to present an Anime Village, with all things anime.
