Officials with the Gwinnett Convention and Visitors Center this week announced the developer for the 110-acre Gas South District complex.
The master plan private development concepts feature a new mixed-use entertainment district for dining, retail, office and residential. There’s also outdoor gathering spaces and structured parking.
The developer is Atlanta-based North American Properties, and it was selected out of three finalists. One local project North American is responsible for is the Avalon development in Alpharetta.
“Our deciding factor was that we felt completely comfortable with the experience and insight that NAP will bring to the entire process. Their vision is not only compelling, it is truly compatible with what we hope to see at the IEC complex,” GCVB CEO Preston Williams said in a press release.
Williams said the decision was based on NAP’s proven ability to implement strong retail and dining lineups, create “buzzworthy” events and amenities, and to “deliver the experiential, hospitable experience that we want to bring to our residents and visitors. Their partnership and expertise will be invaluable to our success.”
Added Gwinnett Commission Chairwoman Charlotte Nash, “We are excited about the partnership between North American Properties and the GCVB. The vision for the complex began nearly 30 years ago, and the Gas South District has truly evolved into one of the economic drivers for Gwinnett County.”
