Gwinnett bicentennial closes with family friendly events, evening gala

Gwinnett’s yearlong bicentennial celebration concludes Saturday, Dec. 15 with a free family-friendly party and a ticketed evening gala at the Gas South District.
The Family Cultural Birthday Party will be held 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hudgens Cen¬ter for Art & Learning and the Infinite Energy Theater at 6400 Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth. The free event features different rooms representing different continents and free cupcakes while supplies last (one per visitor). Youngsters can create crafts, get their bicentennial passport stamped, and see cultur¬al performances from across the globe. Other activities include a photo mosaic, kids’ art project, and storytelling.
Visitors can also learn about the history of Gwinnett, take in an art exhibit, enjoy food trucks representing Gwinnett’s diverse culinary scene, make s’mores and watch an artist make an ice carving of the bicentennial logo.
Guests can celebrate the county’s rich history and pay tribute to its vibrant community and diverse cultures at an evening gala in the Gas South District ballroom.
