At 72, Bob Seger is still doing what he loves: touring.

“I have a great time on stage. The thing I look forward to is playing with these people,” he recently told Billboard. They’re so much fun to play with and be with and they make my job easy because they play great and sing great. So that’s attractive. Everybody’s just on board.”

Seger is referring to his iconic Silver Bullet Band, which has accompanied the Rock ’n’ Roll Hall of Famer on stage for decades.

“Everybody’s so committed — they always are,” he said. “They show up ready to play, and it’s wonderful.”

Fans will get to see just how good Seger and his Silver Bullet Band are when they take the stage at the Gas South District in Duluth on Oct. 7 at 8 p.m. as part of the Runaway Train Tour that’s been playing in front of sellout crowds from coast to coast. Seger hasn’t released any new music since 2014’s “Ride Out,” but he’s expected to put out a new album — his 18th — in November.

He’ll also be releasing new vinyl editions of his 1994 “Greatest Hits” album and his 1969 debut, “Ramblin’ Gamblin’ Man,” which sold more than 10 million copies.

Seger has consistently toured since 2006 after spending the previous 10 years off the road so he could be with his wife and two young kids. His “Ride Out” tour was a massive success so it didn’t take long for him to launch another tour once it ended in March 2015. His current tour, in which Nancy Wilson serves as the opening act, started in August and has seen its run extended due to growing demand for tickets.

“I’ve been (playing live) for so long; it’s really what I got into this (music) to do,” Seger told Billboard during the Ride Out Tour. “I like writing songs best of all, but you never lose that thrill of taking those (songs) you worked on and labored over and playing them for a live audience and seeing how they react.”

Seger’s Silver Bullet Band, which includes as many as 14 members, includes three backing vocalists — Barbara Payton, Shaun Murphy and Laura Creamer — and longtimers Alto Reed (saxophone), Rob McNelley (guitar), Mark Chatfield (guitar), Jim “Moose” Brown (keyboard), Greg Morrow (drums), Chris Campbell (bass) and Craig Frost (keyboard).

Seger’s setlist, which has more than 20 songs, has been nearly identical throughout his tour. The two-hour show gives him plenty of time to crank our nearly all of his hits that transcend generations, including “Hollywood Nights,” “Ramblin’ Gamblin’ Man,” “Turn the Page,” “Night Moves,” “Against The Wind,” “Tryin’ to Live My Life Without You,” “Like a Rock,” “We’ve Got Tonight,” “You’ll Accomp’ny Me” and “Roll Me Away.”
